Billabong Platinum Luggage

How rank is it when you blow a zip on a travel bag? No one wants to use those crook looking hessian bags the airlines give you, they suck. You’re much better off rolling down to airport with some of Billabong’s new range of Platinum Accessories.

Following their premium range of the Solution Platinum Wetsuits and AI Platinum boardies, Billabong have now expanded into bags. The backpacks are rad. The best thing is the laptop stash pocket, which saves you having to tear apart your gear when you’re going through those annoying security gates, just one little side zip and boom, you’re away.

They come in two specific colourways, a crazy plaid and a stealth black. They also have more features than you can poke a stick at, including (see pic below for corresponding numbers):

1) Alpha Pack
-Detachable hard EVA Audio pocket
-Easy access passport sleeve compartment
-Load Bearing back strap suspension system
-Back panel stash pocket for Laptop Accessories and CD/DVD storage
-Easy access side entry padded laptop compartment (fits most 17” laptops)

2) Expedition Pack
-Tarpee lined wetsuit/boardshort stash pocket with waterproof seam sealing and zip
-Stash away, detachable wetsuit change mat
-Moulded hard EVA + padded tarpee lined fin pocket including storage for wax and fin keys
-Tricot lined sunnies pocket

3) Omega Travel Bag
-Dual carry system allowing you to split one bag into two
-Telescopic handle
-Hard case moulded EVA base
-Internal neoprene stretch gusseting for excess luggage
-Compression straps
-Rubberised ID window & feature magnetic snap closure sidewall ID compartment
-Quick entry top pocket opening

The bags are on the more expensive side (around $400AU for the travel bag), but as with most things, you get what you pay for.

Available worldwide July.

I’m interested in buying either the alpha or expedition backpacks, but I am unsure which one. The expedition is about 10 more dollars then the alpha, but looks a lot smaller. I was wondering if you could give me more of an insight into what each is capable. thanks

G’day Alfred. The Alpha pack is more suited to regular traveling and day to day use in my opinion. Side entry laptop compartment etc is super handy if you’re a geek like me. The Expedition pack is more specifically targeted towards surfers with the built in change mat. So if you want a hardcore surf specific pack then that one is the way to go. I hope this helps.
