The Bieber Collection by Billabong

Following the massive success of Billabong’s Metallica and Bob Marley collections, the world’s biggest surf company is set to release a collaboration with Justin Bieber. The capsule will contain a pair of boardshorts and a tee featuring images from Bieber’s recent film ‘Never Say Never’.

Usually, Billabong target well established icons for their music co-op boardshorts, but this time they’ve gone a bit more contemporary. The fact that he has recently worked with Kanye and Raekwon has no doubt given his credibility a big boost. Maybe it’s a ploy by Billabong to pull the ‘youth’ back into the brand, and it’s well known that Bieber is a keen surfer.

There is no question Justin Bieber is successful with the kids, he has sold more then his fair share of albums, and Never Say Never, a film about his life so far, enjoyed the highest grossing opening weekend in history for a documentary at 30.1 Million USD. If these figures are anything to go buy, the JB x BB co-op could be another cash cow for Billabong.

There are rumours that other companies in the Billabong group may also take on Bieber collections, including a signature Nixon Newton Watch and Headphone pack. Never Say Never eh?

Ahhhh, it was a good April Fool’s this year. The Bieber Collection, which got quite some attention yesterday, was a fictional post dreamt up by Tim and I whilst enjoying our annual rollerblading trip to Chicago in the US last week. So by now you should be completely aware thatThe Bieber Collection from Billabong is a hoax. A joke, not happening. It def garnered some attention tho didn’t it, fortunately we didn’t get any cease an desist letters this year…
