Thomas Bexon | Tailor of Foam Symmetry
Came across this while creepin’ out on Facebook, pretty sure CSS put me onto it. Thomas Bexon. A name that most are probably not that familiar with, right now anyway. Given the popularity that surfing and the whole ‘surf hipster’ movement will experience over the next twelve months and it might be name on the tip of everyones lips. Why? His boards and the attention he pays to his craft.
In Thomas’ own words:
“I make surfboards, i reckon i make pretty rad ones, just not too many white 6’1″ thrusters. Most of the testing is done on some pretty tasty point waves and few beaches, been doing it a little while now and really enjoy it.
I make ‘em at a factory that has a lot of history in Australian surfing, bit of a bonus for me really. I’ve learnt a lot off some really great people from spending many hours in the shaping bay and in the water.
Surfing’s fun and doing it on all types of boards makes you smile and keeps it interesting.”
Thomas is making the type of boards that are ‘cool’ these days – think horizontal black stripes mixed with nice pastelly pop colors. With the increase acceptance of riding anything as long as it’s fun, logs (dont call them longboards) are becomingly increasingly becoming the go to board. And yes I want one too. Beyond the log tho, Thomas is making a mixture of fun boards with the Vagabond looking extremely FUN.
Oh and PS. Thomas has a kick ass beard.
