Did you know Saturdays NYC made shades? We kindaaaa did, but never paid attention. A specific email prompted us this morning to take a deeper look, and a for retail store they are doing a real nice shade.
Kinda nuts to see how fast these guys are trying to expand – locations and product offerings. They’ve already got a handful of stores, and good cut’n'sew program and deals with JCrew and GAP (not sure if that’s a good thing, but I’m sure it’s lining their pockets). Plus does anyone know if they coffee they do is any good?
Back to the eyewear. One of the few categories that is still getting some multi brand love – Raen, Salt and Costalot. But with the introduction of Saturdays ‘Walker’, that may change down the road… The Walker is the only shade released from Saturdays at the moment but they’ve released a good looking one.
It’s a classic silhouette that kinda reminds me of Steve McQueen. The Walker has glass polarized lenses and the frame’s made in Japan. There’s other specs, but you can read them later. Colors – they’ve gone the safe route – tortoise and black. Running at $300 they ain’t cheap, but they are available now.
