Wednesday night we headed down to party with the crew over at BW. This time around, it’s was to celebrate their winter collection as well as their first birthday which was held at Top Shelf Gallery in Melbourne. The party started with drinks all round thanks to Vodka Cruisers and Somersby Cider (woop woop)

We then got stuck into the runway show. The collection Hella, Let’s Dip (see above) was rocking. Some fresh new threads with tie dye and pattern which looks like its becoming the trend in town.

Globe x American Rag Los Angered Launch Event

More than 300 people turned out for last Thursday’s Globe x Los Angered shoe launch at American Rag on La Brea – reportedly one of the largest turnouts of any American Rag in-store event to date. The Los Angered is the newest signature shoe by Globe surfer Dion Agius.

The vibe was one of cool LA style and ease. Attendees were comprised of industry tastemakers and media from surf, fashion, lifestyle and culture. The energy remained extremely high all evening as the music, food (meat pies/sausage rolls) and drinks kept the hard-to-achieve-especially-right-after-work- LA crowd happy. The in–store reception and subsequent after party were the result of a deepening relationship Globe is actively cultivating with the iconic retailer.

Good Friday saw the guys over at Third Chapter throw one massive party. Held at Inflation nightclub in Melbourne there was plenty going on for you not to miss any of the action. Captain Morgan was on hand for thirst as well as sexy bunnies handing out kisses rather than easter eggs which no one was disappointed about (apart from maybe some jealous girlfriends). Blindside Skateboarding has there Nike SB interactive display launch last week. They had 40 VIP tickets at a limited opening night. If you didn’t make it down be sure to drop past and have a play with the new interactive wall, its pretty mad.

It was Easter over the weekend, I’m pretty sure you already knew that though… Easter down here in Torquay is kinda nuts. The Rip Curl Pro is on, so it’s packed with every old mate, his dog anyone else who wants to have a fun weekend. Parties are also on every night over the weekend, fair chance if your up for it, you can get blackout drunk five or six nights straight.

Dragon had a party on the Saturday night in celebration of their shades – The Mansfield’s. Nice looking shade those ones, but more on them later this week. Right now, take a squizz at a bunch of photos from the night. Some embarrassing, some hilarious, some rad. All depends on your taste I guess…

Hollister buys VSTR

It’s be an interesting run for Quiksilver over the last couple of months – a new CEO who is making some rad changes, loved brands getting chopped and a CT event at Snapper that scored pumping Kirra. Now to top it off, they’ve managed to sell off one of the brands they we’re going to put to bed – everyone’s favourite new travel brand of sorts, VSTR.

The really interesting thing here isn’t the fact that Quiksilver has sold VSTR, it’s more the fact that Hollister has bought it. Yep, Hollister, that brand that doesn’t surf, but sells surf better then anyone else in the industry. Apparently the brand took note of the whispers that they needed to get more involved with surf and get some authenticity in the market. VSTR may or may not fit right into how they do things, but it’s a brand that’s selling a unique lifestyle – which Hollister have proven they know how to do.

Not sure on figures, or how it all happened – no doubt more info will come to hand over the next few days. I guess the biggest question is what’s Slater going to do? We thought Slater had a big hand in developing VSTR and it’s whole vibe, etc. Obviously Slater isn’t going across with the purchase, but what about all the brand creative with Slater in it?

April’s Fool Day 2013

Ahhhh, it was a good April Fool’s this year. We put together two posts in the hope that one of them would be obvious while the other one would get you thinking – could that happen? Either way, always fun putting these together. But, as we always have to do we do need to let you know that both the ‘Hollister buying VSTR’ and ‘Adidas x ASP x Hollister’  were  fictional posts dreamt up by Tim and I whilst enjoying our annual rollerblading trip to Chicago in the US last week.

So by now you should be completely aware that Hollister buying VSTR from Quiksilver and ASP x Adidas x Zosea is a joke, not happening. It def garnered some attention tho didn’t it, fortunately we didn’t get any cease an desist letters this year…

As a small disclaimer, all parties/brands mentioned in the posts had nothing to do with the content/post, were both unaware of the post.

Hopefully you all had a laugh about it, it’s what it was intended for. For those that got their nose out of joint, read the details next time. There was plenty of links and tips in the actual posts that lead it to being quite obvious that it was anApril Fool’s Joke. Onwards to next year’s AFD.

The other week Corona had run the ’1st Annual Corona Party Wave Invitational.’

Corona invited a flock of surfers, musicians, artists and friends to La Casa Artist Residency to partake in the event, a one-wave competition with no rules and lots of laughter. Check out the video below. They also have a fresh as website with the memories.

This is super late, this party happened last week. I’m going to give you the PR fluff below. Hennessy is rad, you can get proper blackout drunk on the stuff.

RAEN & CO-OP Party

In true fashion, the folk at RAEN and CO-OP threw a great shin-dig to celebrate the new collection of RAEN’s handmade pieces of eyewear.

The event hosted a range of brand ambassadors, creatives and retail partners who were entertained by The Chitticks at one of Manly’s premiere hangs, the ‘Moonshine Bar.’ Guests were treated to a private viewing of a Jack Coleman film-collective, Batlow Ciders, Shipwrecked Run and walked away with not only their senses full but hands full of RAEN goodies.

Haydenshapes Opening. 

Hayden, the man who’s shaping boards for Mr Anderson amongst others, opened up a retail setup the other night. Like most things openings, there was booze, babes and bro’ing down. The three b’s.

The night also hosted a premiere for another of Hayden’s riders, Mr McTaggart – Creed just dropped a profile vid (Abyss) and showed everyone his skills on the big screen.
