Kill City is a Los Angeles based punk inspired contemporary line and sources inspiration from around alternative music and its associated sub-cultures from the past, present, and future. Their philosophy is to produce intricately made fashionable pieces with distinctive silhouettes and vibrant colors that reflect today’s evolving interests and cultural influences.

This is a look at their Spring/Summer ’13 Collection. Kinda reminds me of ‘Natural Born Killers’, but that’s probably more about the backdrop of the photoshoot then anything else. You seen that movie? It’s epic.

Norse Projects :: Shibori Series

This is a new capsule for Norse Projects. It’s all about Japanese Shibori style blended into the 5-Panel silhouette. These are actually constructed with dyed cloth, created using techniques that date back to 8th century Japan. That means each cap is unique. That’s one special cap you’re rocking.

Quiksilver Winter ’13

It’s currently ten degrees outside, it’s raining and it’s fair to Winter has arrived down here in Victoria. To keep somewhat excited about the change in seasons, we can start to show you more and more winter gear. Winter gear is great, it’s warm and warm is good. Layering is the best part, especially if your fat – the layers hide you blubber…

Quiksilver’s new collection for Winter looks nice. Muted colors, puffy jackets (and even puffy vests for the lumberjack with soft hands amongst us all!). Pants, chinos are still, unfortunately, running hot right now.  But, a big drawcard in our eyes is the minimal branding on the pieces, it’s great, lets the pieces and, hopefully, your sense of style make it all look good – like old mate in the merch’d up shots above.

Reef.

This is hitting next month, you should buy some. Seriously, you should. Why? It’s good gear. Sure, tee’s are dime a dozen, but the graphics (once you get past the repeated styles of girls bums Reef are known for) are rad, some are wild, some are fruity, some are just solid. Oh and the RSVR shoes, that range is great – clean simple silhouettes. A little boot’ish, which is on trend (hate that saying), we’ll show you more of that later…

But it’s the other stuff you’re really going to buy – the jackets, the fleece, the outdoorsy stuff. You know their jackets (and anything outdoorsy) is going to be top quality or next level shit. They’ve got the same factories and leads as The North Face, and you know how good their gear is…

Not hard math to do here, go buy some.

BustinCo just dropped thier new A/W Collection Look Book. There are some nice shots in mix that are super sexy and really raw which is the look they were going for. Favourite though would have to be the girl on the roller skates wearing the dolphins jersey. Check it out just for her. Bustin have extended the range by adding a couple of designs since launching with some more vibrant colour patterns and prints.

Kinda weird that Billabong have joined forces with Basque country bikini/surfboard label Pukas (yeah the same Pukas who shapes Gabriel Medina’s sleds), but together the two have given birth to something gorgeous. It’s almost like when you see two normal looking parents who give birth to a supermodel and all the average shit that floats around in their gene pool gets cancelled out.

The collection is pretty simple as far as colabs go. There’s a pair of trunks, a few tees, chicks jeans, a collarey and a girls top that looks like it’s had a spiders web stapled to the back. Overall, there’s nothing too loud or boisterous that stings to look at. In fact, it’d be nice to see what the duo come up with if they had the opportunity to do more gear together.

To celebrate the launch, Desillusion Magazine have produced this three-minute clip about Pukas’ origins and how Bong came to join the party. It’s definite worth a watch if you can spare the time.

Beams Plus x Mr Porter

Dudes surfing on giant shoes…

That’s kinda weird. The good thing about weird is that it’s interesting and makes you stop and look. Given Beams and Mr Porter have huge credibility in the fashion scene this ‘Surf Ivy’ collection is bound to do well. I’m digging the shorts most of all, something really quirky without going over the top. Not too sure on those tees though.

A new Parisian brand doing cool things.

750XV are an Art and Street Fashion brand doing art prints on a range of products. That’s not a new concept, but the cool thing about these guys is you can actually buy the original artwork for the tees on their online store as well. That’s not something you see everyday, and is great for those collectors out there.

It’s not just tees either, there are sweats, jackets and accessories too. Check it all out here.

Element :: Hemp Collection

Take the high road….

Weed, it’s not just good for smoking. Hemp is actually an incredible plant when you look into it. It grows without the need for pesticides, produces harvests quickly, is cheap to maintain and can be used to make things like paper, cloth, oil for fuel, seeds for eating and much more. It’s actually a shame hemp isn’t used more widely, simply because some strains can be used for drug use. Anyway….Element’s slogan for this collection is ‘take the high road’ not ‘get on your high horse’, so I’ll get off mine for now.

The collection is based off a key weed leaf yardage on a black base, is made from hemp products and is available now online. Just say yes.

S/Double Proto

This is a prototype jacket that Shawn is working on at the moment, it looks amazing. I saw look because there’s no way I could tell what’s happening on it. Looks like a heavy canvas’y material, looks like there might be some reflective material in there, looks taped, def looks like a lot of pockets. But yeah, won’t know until it drops – Shawn had this to say about it ::

“Working on an amazing jacket with my buddies up above Whistler in Pemberton, Tom and Sanna… They have an amazing development center up in the woods where they design and develop the killer winter gear… I am honored that they are considering and working on this project with the S/DOUBLE design shop… I am crossing my fingers and hoping this jacket will see the light of day?…”

And yeah, we’ve still got that long ass interview with Shawn coming – transcribing is a nightmare. Thought I didn’t know how to write, I don’t even know how to speak…
