Behind Empire Lines

Volcom | Behind Empire Lines

Onto the next one, this week we bring you a behind the scenes tour of the Volcom set up.

Nestled near the beach in the relaxed suburb of Costa Mesa in California, the Volcom offices were like a mix of a kids play pen and offices where real business gets done.

Boards (skate and surf) littered the walls of the marketing dept, along with images from years past – rider covers, videos, tee’s, etc. While if you went up stairs you could sniff it was serious up there, and why wouldn’t it be? The company makes a gazillion pesos a year..

The best area? The merch/pos/make anything you want warehouse/office across the road. This joint was like a playground for creative adults. Mannequins, A Boar’s head, a Deer’s head, massive pieces of art that have been used in events or in store promos are scattered thruout the place. Inspiration is a step away in here.

And if you ride for the Volcom skate team your pretty much in dreamy heaven. Word is that all skate team members get a key to the Volcom skate park, which is located in a warehouse across the road from the offices. Team guys can come skate the place at any time they feel the need. 3am, wanna skate? Sure, lets go.

The toilet was kinda cool, at least they had poster up on the wall, mags stacked up for passing the time and some weird shit written on the walls. Overall pretty sweet digs that you’d be stoked to roll up to every day, vibe is cruisy and you’d enjoy working there. Watch out tho, the reception chick has a dog that she takes to work every day – it fits in her hand bag. I’d say it’s like one of those exploded tampoon dogs, but this thing didnt really have any hair. An oversized rat perhaps?

Enjoy the shots. Thanks to Ebonee and Bel for the tour.
